FAQs

Check out the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Bathroom Furniture

  • Our designers have carefully chosen a premium quality range of bathroom equipment, décor and finishes for our homes. The wall hung bathroom vanities are finished in a high gloss lacquer with a composite countertop and fully integrated basin. Toilets are pure white ceramic with concealed cistern and showers are fully tiled ‘walk in’ units with tempered glass screens.

Shipping

  • All of the component parts, materials and equipment provided in a kit home package are assembled together, packages for international maritime transportation, and loaded into 40’ HC shipping containers.

Sun Study

  • Did you know that, using specialised software, Bauhu designers can simulate the suns movement over a building in a specific location? This provides vital information allowing us to optimise your modular home’s design and exact orientation to benefit from shading where it is needed most.

Your Choice

  • One of the benefits of purchasing a factory manufactured modular home is that the buyer has the opportunity to choose and specify a range of finishes for a new home. Bauhu Homes can be personalised in this manner allowing you to choose finishes to your own personel taste. Our interior designers can help with this.

Structural Engineering

  • Bauhu homes are made in a factory and delivered in sections, so the structure can be erected very quickly. Buildings are structurally engineered to ASCE 7-22 (The American Society of Civil Engineers Code) and designed for high wind and seismic locations.

Bermuda Style Island Roofs

  • A modern Bermuda style roof is a design that features a low-pitched, hipped roof with a central ridge. The roofs sides are extended to form a deep overhang that provides shade and protection from the sun and rain. This design is similar to the traditional Bermuda roof, but with a more modern twist.

Designer German Kitchen

  • Bauhu homes are supplied with custom designed kitchen cabinetry, made to order by Nobilia. Many of our kitchen designs feature a signature island unit. The large island unit provides valuable storage in all four sides and serves as a comfortable dining area for breakfast and snack meals.

EPDM Flat Roofs

  • Bauhu home designs with flat roofs use EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) manufactured by Firestone, which is a synthetic rubber roofing membrane commonly used in flat or low-sloped roofing systems.

Water Saving Faucets

  • All of the faucets supplied in Bauhu Homes are equipped with systems that save water by reducing the water flow by adding air to the water stream. While producing a soft touch and non-splashing sensation it offers the same feeling of comfort as a large flow but using much less water.

Ceramics

  • Bauhu Homes are provided with an exquisite selection of floor and wall finishes made to order by one of Portugal’s leading ceramics manufacturers.

Permitting & Compliance

  • A local building permit is generally required to erect a permanent structure of any kind but permitting requirements vary from location to location. In most circumstances an application for a building permit may only be submitted by a locally registered architect of record.

Hurricane Safe

  • A modular steel frame hurricane resistant house is a type of prefabricated home that is designed to withstand strong winds and other weather events associated with hurricanes. Bauhu homes are built using a modular design, which means that they are constructed off-site in a factory and then assembled on the building site.
